Simba is home and doing well... and his surgery didn't cost me as much as I was afraid it would, being only a little over $200. If he were hairless and walked on two legs instead of four paws then it would have been ten times that. I am grateful for small favors.
I also had to pick up hardware and fix the front door. The latch has been getting difficult for months now and this morning when Emily and I got home, we couldn't get in by that door at all. And no wonder, when I took it apart, I found that we (collectively) had twisted the square inner piece that turns in two. So now we have a new door knob with a knob on each side... the thumb latch was, I think, the problem.
The perfume bottle turns out to be not indeed, Clairfontaine. But since it looks remarkably similar and I am not a collector, I am just as pleased with it as if it were. It also lets me off the hook of feeling guilty for keeping it when we could use the money so many other places.
