Ok, I have to share my mail call for today-

1st package from Heaven and Earth Essentials:

2nd package from Cathouse Quilts and Fabrics: a pretty wren fabric ("Wall Flowers" by Hoffman California International Fabrics) I bought on Ebay.

3rd package: A swap from [info]smb7681 on Sin and Salvation She sent me Grease Lightning
and Sonic Death Monkey from Lush!

4th package: Also a swap, this time from [info]elenorerigby on Sin and Salvation. She sent me decants of Punkie Night and Nocturne Alchemy's Thoth and lots of lovely tea. Since I haven't had a chance to try much from Nocturne Alchemy, I'm very happy about this.

5th package is a surprise: Moxie's own [info]wikkidraven sent me a huge box of Cadbury 'biscuits' and a package of 'biscuits' from Fox's. Om nom nom! Girl, you are going to make me fat(ter).

6th package is a surprise and a mystery. The actual package is from [info]1demondog but she says it was purchased for me by 'an anonymous friend' as a special birthday gift. (Hello, [info]chatriant!)

In the package is a beautiful glittery box with the Voodoo Punami symbol on the top and inside the box (as though that were not enough!) is a bottle...

a bloody 5ml cobalt bottle,

full!!!...

of Dublin. How you ladies prestidigitated that, I'll never know but I am grateful in the extreme. (I am curious though, how many virgins and to which deity? And where did you find that many of them?) There are also imps of Ignis and Ugh Massage Oils and one of Leipreachan. There's also a small spray bottle of Goblin of Yuletide Yet To Come Atmospheric Spray which is lovely and fabulous! I know what my house will be smelling like this Christmas! And a lovely note from [info]1demondog and a "I ♥ Bpal" button for freaking the mundanes. All wrapped up in beautiful silver tissue paper. I have been thoroughly spoiled! you both!

I love my post office... they found a bsg for me to carry everything in.

On a much sadder note, [info]tha1980s just called me to let me know John Hughes died. I was just quoting him this morning too, There was a screw that fell out of our kitchen table and Emily wanted to know why. "Screws fall out all the time, honey. It's an imperfect world."

RIP, man, you deserve it.

I got Witched yesterday! I already knew (from her PM) that my fabulous witch is delicate_fangs. She's already spoiled me rotten but just see what she kept for the end!

An AUTOGRAPHED copy of a new book by one of my very favoritest authors, Lois McMaster Bujold. And not just autographed... autographed to ME personally! My fabulous witch also PMed me pics of her having my book signed here in case anyone is as much of a fangirl as I am about it all. Then there was a beautiful handwritten card explaining that the round pendant is a "planet" pendant... and that she had Lois pick it out for me. Since it looks nothing like Earth, I have determined that it's Barrayar.

The other pendant is my very very favorite rainbow moonstones. I can never have too many moonstones! And Lush in the form of a Karma bubble bar and my delicious CoalFace.

Today being Friday, I plan to come home after work and pour myself something decadent to drink and then snuggle down in a bubbly tub to devour my new book! Thank you, my darling delicate_fangs.... you are the bestest Witch in the whole wide world.

I had to get off work in the middle of the day to go get Emily from school. No, she isn't sick... she has lice. Apparently, she got them at school too so the rest of my day has been washing- her hair, sheets, blankets. I still have the rest of my bedding to do as well as all the rest of her clothes, my clothes and my hair. *groan, grumble* This is NOT the way I planned to spend my Friday night!

The recipe program is working out well enough so far. I have even figured out how to make it bend to print out a hard copy in the format I want for Emily's cookbook. I think this is going to be one to keep.

I got my package today with what should have been my St Patrick's Day tablecloth. It's the wrong one... this one has angels embroidered in gold on it... very pretty but I already have a Christmas tablecloth and I don't need more than one.

Recently, I found a recipe for Mushroom soup and I tried it out last night:

Quilter's Mushroom Soup with Fresh Rosemary
from The Quilter's Kitchen
Makes 16 cups

1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1 Spanish onion, halved and coarsely chopped or sliced
2½ to 3 pounds button mushrooms, wiped clean and coarsely
chopped, stems included
2 teaspoons dried rosemary
2 Idaho potatoes, unpeeled, diced (about 2 cups)
12 cups low-sodium
chicken broth
2 tablespoons dry sherry
1 cup light cream
Kosher salt and black pepper
Fresh rosemary leaves, for garnish

Place a large heavy-bottomed soup pot over medium heat and when it is hot, add the butter. When the butter has melted, add the onion, and cook until tender, about 10 minutes.

Add the mushrooms and rosemary and cook until the mushrooms release their juices, about 15 minutes. Then add the potatoes, chicken broth, and sherry, raise the heat to high and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and cook until the potatoes are tender, about 20 minutes.

Remove the solids and place in a blender or food processor fitted with a steel blade. Process, in batches, until completely smooth, gradually adding the remaining broth and cream. Season with salt and black pepper. Serve garnished with fresh rosemary.

I'm also planning a brie appetizer for Thanksgiving... stay tuned!

Day 2588

Grrr! That woman!

I had today off... necessary since I had to take Emily to the doctor for her med check up.

I started out by taking her to school and having the conference that I didn't have Thursday... her teacher is going to make sure that everything gets into her bag and goes home with her. Embarrassing for her, to be treated like a first grader, but what else can be done?

Then I went to the post office (man, do I owe them cookies!) and got fussed at. Not for having so many packages but for skipping Friday and Saturday. (You don't call, you don't write... where were you?) While processing packages, I explained that I wouldn't be coming by nearly as often any more... which seemed to make my people sad.

Good heavens, was it really all that? I guess it was...

Then I returned my recalled White Rabbit candy and went to lunch with 80s where a good time was had by all. He was in fine form today and kept making me laugh.

Run back to school and pick up Emily and get her to the doctor. Dr changed her meds to 30mg of Vyvanse starting tomorrow and we'll see how it works. While we were there, I ran into the other front desk person from Sarah's office who is still there. I burbled about how well life was going for me and she grumbled about hers.

Then to Arby's to pick up dinner, at Em's request.

Then back to the doctor because we forgot to give Emily her flu shot. As it turns out, she got the nasal inoculation so "shot" is a misnomer.

We took a turn by 80s house to drop off something he inadvertently left in my car and then to my work to fill Em's new script and activate the "free 30 days" card they gave me since insurance wouldn't pay for it without Dr calling them first. If it works well, she'll call next week.

Then home to get Emily started on a huge pile of homework due to getting her out of school early.

In the middle of this, Sarah calls wanting to know why it was necessary to tell everyone I met that knows her just how happy I am and how much less stress I am under. After pointing out to her that I am happy and less stressed...and having her reiterate that I was 'talking down about her' and she 'always treated you well' and 'I thought we had a relationship' and some chomping about how little notice I gave her, I told her 'Sarah, it's not always all about you.' Which set her off even more... beginning with "F*ck you." To which I responded "Good evening, Sarah" and hung up.

WTF? What on earth is she thinking? Does she really think she is better than me that she should call me after almost a year and still expect me to play nice-y nice? This is exactly why my current job is so much less stressful. No one at work would dream of calling me at home to discuss something I said in a public place that they thought might reflect badly on them personally. Good God, lady, get laid and get a LIFE... that isn't mine!

Rather fortunately for all concerned, Emily got her homework done... neatly, quickly and well... and I got a PM from my switch witch to let me know who she is and that her planned final package is going to be late. I don't care, knowing who she is... and finding out just at that moment... was the tonic I needed against Toxic Sarah.

I got reverse witched!

It's a good thing I was early to work today. The post office had not gone through all their packages yet and only had one to give me. When I got to work I opened it... and there was this lovely little gold box with a tiny envelope under the cord. I opened it and "Surprise! You have been reverse witched! Love your witchee (my Witchee)" I opened the box and there was the gorgeous bead and copper leaf necklace I'd been salivating over on Etsy!! I sat in the car for a full five minutes saying "Oh my God! Oh my God!" and squealing.

I put it on... and caused comment because I don't often wear necklaces to work. They tend to be either too long or too short but this one, like Goldilock's porridge, is just right!

Reverse Witch 1

If that wasn't enough, I got home to an Amazon box. Now, I do have an order in with Amazon... but Tales of Beetle the Bard won't be out for months so I was mystified. It was two beautifully giftwrapped books... english historical novels... again from my super special Witchee!

Reverse Witch 2

I have the best friends in the whole world... yes I do. You are all super and I love you! And, Witchee darling? You totally made my Monday!

Bpal entry... mostly for my witch. All others may skip if desired. :D

Because I have noticed that what I like and what I have and what I wish for do not always intersect perfectly )
