I have discovered that I do not like shower jellies. They wriggle and I drop them and I'm forever trying to scoop them up and rub them where I need to get clean. It's like trying to lather with an uncooperative hyper-active giant amoeba. And the scent (Champagne Snow Showers) is only 'meh'... not one I would actively seek out.
Today was interesting... about an hour after I got to work, one of the assistant manager (one of the very nice ones) asked me to blow up ten balloons for him. Ok, sure... although I hate blowing up latex balloons because I'm always afraid I'll pop one and that makes me jump so I was jittery and nervous the whole time. Before I was done, the deli manager asked me to blow up another 13 for her of assorted types and colours. Ok, I guess. Before I finished that, I had a customer call in and request a balloon bouquet- two mylar and ten latex. And a wrist corsage which I had never made before. By 1pm (it was around 11). Arrgh! Ok... got to do this too. Before I finished that, the bookkeeper (who runs the front end) called me back to the front end and demanded to know when I would be done since I wasn't actually working in floral today. Well, hell bitch, as soon as I can! By that time I was on the corsage and I didn't know where any of the supplies were and I was less than confident I was doing it right... so yeah, let's add some more stress, why not.
However, I did get it all done and get back to my station. And the bookkeeper punished me by sending me to lunch very late and not giving me a break at all so that I had to take my break after she left... and she leaves only two hours before I do.
But wait! There's more! When I did get my break, I ran outside to get a quick cigarette... and looked up when I heard a metal crunch. One of our customers had hit the assistant manager's car! I stubbed out my cigarette and was going to go get the asst. mgr... and the jerk started to pull off! So I ran after him (which made him speed up) and got the license plate number. I'm sure the number I wrote down was correct but the rest of it? The man driving (and it was a man) was about 80, wearing a cap and I'd know him again.. he's a regular customer. He was driving a white or light sedan (not sure but I think it was 4 door) and may have had a passenger. He also hit the car head on and had to back up to go around it. There is no way he didn't know he hit it. So, of course, I had to talk to the police when they arrived since I was one of two eye-witnesses and the other one was not paying that much attention even after the fact.
Ugh! What a day!
Fortunately, Emily had been very good... she proved to me that she knows her times tables now. If she can prove it again tomorrow, I'll go ahead and get her the reward I promised her for learning them. She also brought home a division paper today that was graded 100%... which means she really can multiply. She has also applied herself to some purpose this week and has all of her spelling words learned and has had all her homework done by the time I get home every night, not been very sassy and just generally behaved.
Also last night, 80s was out. We made Thai soup (it needs more curry paste or something... it's bland) and curled up and talked while we digested. Well, talked some... some of the time we just enjoyed being quiet together which is kind of rare and was lovely and peaceful. One of the best things about long time friends is that you can sit in silence together and be comfortable.
By the way, 80s is looking to replace a record (vinyl) for his Mom. It's Justin Hayward and John Lodge and called The Blue Jays. I can get it on Ebay but does anyone have a better recommendation? I'd like to get her a close to mint copy without breaking the bank and Ebay is dicy about record condition.
Whew! Long post... sorry about that.
