Day 2470 OMG! A real post!

Still feeling pretty blah about myself... but faking it nicely, thanks. I'll get there eventually or die trying ;)
Emily's class has started long division... and it becomes painfully obvious that all the work we did on multiplication has been forgotten. So I'm back to pounding multiplication facts into her head with a hammer... I hope some of them stay this time!!
Her spelling is also less than admirable... so we're going to be working on spelling words too.
I left work for her to do today between the time she got home and I got home... so she chose today to run out and play outside. The weather was not really fit for it, either. When I got home, none of the work had been done... so she did it after supper. Poor kidlet only ended up with 10 minutes to read tonight... her own fault but I still feel sorry for her. If she could only learn not to put things off!
I'm a nice one to talk tonight... my taxes are waiting for me on the kitchen table... and I am resisting their allure heroically. I have promised myself a Karma bath when I get them done so I'll be attacking them momentarily. I'm cold and I hurt and a Karma bath sounds just short of heaven.
Em has also done something else that is both irritating and foolish... she cut bangs in her hair. Not neatly... she cut them all crooked and I had to trim them pretty short to even them up (mostly... there are still spots that are shorter... but she trimmed them down to less than an inch!) She wanted to wear a hat to school today and I wouldn't let her. She is going to have to learn eventually that her actions have consequences and that she's going to have to live with the results. She won't learn any younger!
The Anna-kitten has a doctor's appointment on the 27th for her necessary spaying. Scheduling that morning is going to be hectic at best and the rest of the day may be almost as bad. I'd love to take the day and quilt but I have too many errands to run that day to do it.
I found a lovely pasta sauce that my store has discontinued... 80s and I are going to try and recreate it because I really like it. It's got diced tomatoes, porcini and portabella mushrooms and merlot in it if anyone has that recipe to save me a day in the kitchen.
Ugh. Off to the tax salt mines...
