Oatmeal cookies can bite me

... or at least wait until tomorrow to get baked.
The girl I was supposed to teach sewing to today had to cancel at the last minute... mother-in-law car trouble. As it happens, this was a good thing, really.
Since I was out of shortening, I had to go out anyway and dropped a package on her porch with a basic sewing text... the one I've found most useful over the years... and a few basic supplies. Hopefully that will help her until after the first of the year when we might be able to get together.
So I picked up shortening... and other stuff at the grocery... and then stopped by my Indian grocery to pick up henna and soap. I wasn't actually out of either of them but I was close and they were open. They keep the funkiest hours in the world, I swear.
Back home... I had finished my Christmas cards (all but one) and bills this morning and the lion's share of the laundry and finished putting bows etc on packages and addressed the one package that must be mailed before we left.
So- COOKIES
3 batches of chocolate chip, lime bars, sugar cookies with decorations (the santas turned out so cute! But I forgot to take pictures before I packaged them up) 2 batches of peanut butter-kiss cookies and I working on shortbread now. I also feel like I am channeling my Dad because most of the bowls and measuring cups and spoons have had to be washed not once but several times today! Oatmeal cookies were scheduled next but I'm ready to drop in my tracks and they can just go bite me!
