I treated myself to a couple of perfume samples today. PotL has come out with a new one called A*maze which I don't expect to like as much as I like Luctor et Emergo. But refuse not the dish untasted! So I got a small sample. The hype is that it smells like roses, mostly, so we'll see.
I also got a sample of one I have wanted to try for a long time called Frankincense-Myrrh-Rose Maroc by Regina Harris. The main notes are Frankincense, Myrrh and Rose Maroc... quell suprisé. However, it's reputed to be dark, mysterious, rich and resinous. The bottle looks like the spire of a mosque... very beautiful. But it's too pricey to buy just for the bottle.
"This is an Expressionist scent, with the notes of frankincense, myrrh and rose distorted and exaggerated to achieve an unsettling, dark and simmering fragrance. The notes are rich and complex and very smoothly blended. Lasting power is exceptional, the bottle is stunning, though the price is rather high at $125 for 15ml" Review from "Smellin' Things" blog September 2005
I also threw in a sample of Kai oil... white flowers and gardenia. That's pretty iffy for me but there's a lot of hype about it too so I'll try it and see.
Another thing I am going to do is get small spray bottles (refillable) for most or all of my perfumes. When I went to Memphis, I didn't mind not taking much make up or even much jewelry but I got to go out and didn't have a selection of perfume. I don't like that and I intend to correct the problem. (Ok, Ok, I know... some people do clothes and some do shoes or make up... I do perfume and fabric and charms. So what?)
