Day 2042 The State of the Wren
May. 29th, 2010 09:59 amI worked 10 hours yesterday which made for a long day and a tired wren but will make for a nicer paycheck next Friday.
As usual, my mind is running ahead of me- I'm thinking about reflooring the kitchen. It has to be done- it was a bad job in the first place and a poor choice. The floor right now is vinyl sheet flooring made to look like wood tiles. It looks ok but it was not secured at the edges and is curling up badly. So I'll want to replace it eventually. Currently, I'm considering cork. As I understand it, cork is perfectly cleanable as long as it is properly sealed. This is just random daydreaming until I have finished everything in the living room but any thoughts about cork flooring are most welcome.
For anyone not on FB, the living room floor is about 1/3 finished. I didn't work on it last night, of course, and I want to finish my other chores before I get back to work on it today.
Martha Stewart can bite me.
I've volunteered for Bella Sera next weekend- that should be fun! Volunteering means that, not only do I get to go to the event without it costing too much, but I also have something to do and a reason to walk up and talk to strangers. I have a hard time going up to strangers at events like this and working it makes it a lot easier. I'll be serving wine so I'm sure I'll be popular :D
I'm still nervous....
I intended to weed-eat the front garden yesterday after work. I didn't so that's on the schedule for today.
I also need to go through and pick out pictures of Emily's graduation to upload. I took lots and lots hoping to get a few that are worth keeping.
A few thoughts on the- why do churches have stained glass windows? I understand the ones that have pictorial representations of bible stories or memorials to past church members but this church had random abstract stained glass windows. What was the point here? Is it just traditional and they were following the herd? Is it just for decorative purposes? (Seems a bit frivolous in a church to do that.) Plain windows would have been a lot less expensive. So why do churches do that? I want to know.
I also want to know why a Tennessee public school is graduating at a Baptist church in Georgia- complete with prayers. And why half the girls were wearing what amounts to cocktail dresses and heels at 12 years old. I know this is Tennessee but are they on the marriage market already?
Pfft. I'll post Emily's graduation pictures later today.
Addendum: My drill is dying. I can smell the bushings burning up as I use it. Since it's quite possibly older than me and has a cord, one item on my wishlist has gone to the top: Dewalt Cordless Drill
