Man, this has been a day!
First off, Happy Birthday to my brother. Woot!
We had corporate company today at work- which went pretty well. Even if, at the last minute, my area did get expanded by two feet and I hadn't made enough product for two extra feet... I still made it look good- if a little skimpy.
Back home, Bitsy's cut was looking worse, not better, so I called the vet and they stayed after and let me bring her in for stitches. They have to keep her under observation until after she wakes up so I'll pick her up after work tomorrow. When Mom asked me what that was setting her back I told her "Thank you for the help with the shots but my dog, my decision, my bill." That set her back some... I don't think she actually understood what I mean when I say an animal is mine. I think she was thinking about the money when she told me Bits didn't need stitches yesterday- I don't care. If it was me, I'd want to be stitched up... and I pay for things like extra pain meds if needed. When I adopt an animal, I'm not going to stint on care. I can't afford frou-frou stuff like grooming (I can do that myself, thanks) but stitches and pain meds and shots I'll manage some how.
Home again sans Bits- Emily has gotten under the house and pulled out the leftover house paint from the library... and decided to paint a sign. ("Keep Out" or some such nonsense as there is no where to post it that would be of any use.) She also picked up a mouse that she thought was dead. It was just alive enough to bite at her (it did NOT break the skin so no worries- not that I didn't put a total fear of rabies into her!) so she put it in a glass jar with holes in the lid. (By then it was a dead mouse- it had obviously partaken of the food I left under the house for the mice that chew up my heating ducts.)
Other stuff: I've got some recipes to post- McCormick has put out these cards with premeasured spices in bubbles on the front and the recipe on the back. I don't need the spices- I think I have all of them- but some of the recipes looked pretty good. I also browsed through a cupcake cook book and found several recipes I want to keep. So you're about to get spammed with recipe posts. Please note- I have not tried any of these.
