A lot of this and that and nothing much of anything this week. Stuff like fawns ran across the road in front of our car on the way to school a couple of mornings (they're the cutest little cusses!) and I had to find a bunch of country of origin labels for the cut fruit at work. Oh, and we had 'company' at work... which is why I had to find the labels. So- to hit the highlights:
Emily finished her multiplication workbook and is now on division- which means I owe her a book. Division seems to be easier for her than multiplication... which makes me wonder if her mind doesn't work backwards! We'll be going out in a couple of hours to get her new book.
I watched The Ugly Truth with
tha1980s on Friday. It's cute and parts of it are pretty true but it's not one I want to own. I keep feeling sorry for Colin-between wondering if he's ever going to come out since the man is obviously gay.
I also watched a rental of The Haunted Airman. Blech! Don't bother unless you want to turn the sound off and just oogle Robert Pattinson. Even Julian Sands, whose roles I usually love, turns in a lackluster performance. The only decent character in the whole thing was the nurse played by Melissa Lloyd. It had all the potential for being a great spooky movie- and it just fell completely flat. Watch Warlock or Tale of a Vampire instead.
I've also been working on a pretty how town I've got May's block finished and almost all of August. I still hate quilting in the ditch but this is going pretty fast and I'm fairly well pleased with the results. I'm trying to put in a bit of time on it every day because I don't want it to be two more years before I finish it. Besides, I'm kind of excited about it.
Next quilt on the frame, which I don't have to put on the frame yet since I'm working in a hoop, will be Granny's quilt for Em. I want to get through that because I really really want to finish Don't Go Out A-Lone Star but I also want Emily's quilt done before her 16th birthday, just in case she's responsible enough to have it by then. Given my track record, I think I should work on it next. *hangs head in embarrassment*
While I'm working on the quilts, Emily and I are watching Bones, the first three seasons in order. This is fun- I love watching how the characters develop and relate over time compressed into a short recap. Not to mention this show is really funny in an occasionally sick way. The sicker it is, the funnier I find it.
