I had a day off in the middle of the week yesterday- just because I needed one!
It was nice- I watched Wolverine: Origins and started quilting on my house quilt as well as talked to Emily's teachers about her interim grades.
I must note, I am NOT impressed with her teachers this year. Like last year, they keep encouraging her to read. For most children, this is a good thing. For Emily, encouraging her to read means that she reads instead of doing math and science homework. Now, I have nothing against her (or any other child) reading... but there are times and places! And they can't seem to understand that they are enabling her to ignore the other work they give... possibly because she may be one of the only children they have that reads without any encouragement at all. Arrgh! Once again I am fighting the whole of society because my kid does not fall within the 'norm' and no one is listening to me about it.
I could have done without that interview yesterday... I warned them before the school year started about this and, as usual, I don't know what I'm talking about.
Other than that, it was a good day, if a bit too short- I'd have loved to work in a nap somewhere.
What one thing do you think of when you think of the month of May?
