I suppose that I am lucky today... after a fashion!
I had today off and got my chores done early... and Mom went to her funeral. I decided that, while I was making lotion bars (just to see if I could and I can), I would burn off some mp3 CDs to play instead of quilting and leaving the computer plugged into the internet.
As it turned out, this was fortunate since I got a phone call about 1:20pm letting me know that they were letting school out early and I needed to pick Emily up by 1:30pm. Ack! 10 minutes to get to school... so I run out the door and get there... and then they tell me I have to go in and go to her classroom to pick her up. What? Procedure when school is letting out early is to send the kids home in the usual way which for car riders means that they come out the door in a group and walk down the line until they get to their own car. So I go fetch her... *sigh*
Friends, it isn't even raining here and the last tornado spotted in this area was over four years ago... and the highest local wind is 18mph. Ok, maybe not the day to go sailing or kite flying but certainly no reason to let school out early. This is beyond ridiculous! Tornado warning, ok... but that's not a tornado, it's a slight chance of a tornado. I am so sick of people panicking at shadows... the school board most of all. Know what to do, keep alert and quit worrying about it until it actually happens!!
