This has been a roller-coaster of a day.
On the one hand, I'm dreadfully sore from marking part of my Dogwood quilt top yesterday at work. (It was cold and cloudy so we weren't busy and I spent most of the day crawling around on the floor with a pencil. Who knew crawling was such hard work? No wonder babies cry a lot!)
On the other hand I scarfed an hour out of my day (between the grocery and the girl's dentist appointment) to run down to the quilt shop. And, sure enough, they had exactly the fabric I wanted for the light pieces in Storm at Sea.
The mail was full of bad news this afternoon... I got a message from my brother about Dad. It seems I was right, he was making too light of this. He's not able to cook for himself and he can't hold anything down anyway. Also a message from a dear friend about her mom's health problems... I'm so sorry about that since I remember her mom as a pretty, spunky woman.
However, the girls neither one have cavities and don't even really need anything else although the dentist is strongly suggesting I get Emily's teeth sealed. Maybe... but not just now. I can't afford it right now and it's preventative rather than corrective. If she takes care to brush, she shouldn't get any cavities anyway.
I've also realized that I not only don't mind any man I'm living with going out with the boys once in awhile... I want him to! I henna-ed my hair tonight (I still have 3 lbs of green mud in my hair!) and was thinking as I was doing it how nice it is that there is no likelihood of someone walking in on me while I look hideous. I used to have a terrible time getting Eric out of my hair for long enough to put henna in it. Once he told me he would be working late... so I jumped on the chance for an evening alone. About the time I got all mudded up, he came home. Not just on time but early and bringing a co-worker home for dinner.
No, I didn't kill him... sometimes I wonder how I managed not to!
