Day 2185 Calendars

I got my new calendar today which makes me happy- it's the Lang Country Welcome calendar with really nice prints of paintings- country but not 'country' ifyouknowwhatImean. It was a toss up between this one and the Escher calendar but Escher didn't have any of my favorites in it and this one is very pretty. I also got my page-a-day Zen calendar which makes me super happy- I really missed it last year.

I am also searching (unsuccessfully, so far) for a new Advent calendar. The one I have is 40 years old now and, while it is still in really good shape, I'd like to keep it that way. I want one that is a house that the windows open- not cartoon-y and not overtly religious. And I want pictures- not chocolates or treats- so all the wooden ones are right out.

While I was looking for a Christmas advent calendar, I happened upon a couple of different Halloween advent calendars- but both of the ones I have found so far are very cartoon and not at all spooky. So I decided that, on that one, I have to make my own. This will be the front:

octoberhouse

and I plan to have each day be a pane of the windows instead of a full window on the two upper floors so it will take four days to uncover one picture. Choosing the pictures will be fun too- which Grim Reaper should I use and which Vampire etc. Since I am only making it for me, I don't have to be much concerned about copyright.

I like calendars- I'm sure this says something profound about me but I have no idea what.

In other news, I got one of my Lush orders today. They had emailed me and said that they did not have one of the things I ordered which was a bit of a bummer- but when I opened the box, there it was! Too cool- now I can have a Hot Toddy in my bath!

Sourcery

2. Sourcery (Discworld, #5) by Terry Pratchett (Rating: )

Once upon a time, there was an eighth son of an eighth son who was, of course, a wizard. As if that wasn't complicated enough, said wizard then had seven sons. And then he had an eighth son -- a wizard squared (that's all the math, really). Who of course, was a source of magic -- a sorcerer.

One of my friends told me that after the first two books, Pratchett discovered the Joy of Plot. I believe it, they just keep getting better! But I want to know where the Luggage has got to and just how far it will go to find an owner.
