Oh, hell. I guess now was the wrong time to sell Schwarzer Mond- even if it is original. I do have to point out that my shipping is cheaper!
wren08: (Dublin)
I didn't raise as much as I needed to with the last set of auctions so I'm destashing a bit more... and have I got some lovely Bpal for you this time! These are all back up bottles so they are all full- and Storyville is REALLY full.

Go see them here.

Includes Storyville, Schwarzer Mond (original), A Bachelor's Dog, Queen's Salon and El Dia de Reyes. I am including insurance on the price of shipping for Storyville although I will be happy to combine shipping with any other auction... and I do ship internationally.

Day 1874

Nov. 13th, 2010 06:12 pm
wren08: (Default)
Tonight I am sending up a grateful prayer that the last time I ordered from the Lab, I decided to splurge and get all the General Catalogs I've been wanting- particularly Ile de la Tortuga. Also backups of Tristain and Buggre Alle This Bible. They escaped this time but who knows what may happen next week, next month? I have a bit of regret for Niflheim and Szepasszony but I had already decided that I don't actually need either one. Niflheim is very similar to Wolf Moon on me and I like Wolf Moon better and Szepasszony is a Bpal version of Kai so I'm good with Kai.

In just a few minutes I'm going to go start wrapping Christmas (and for Em, birthday) gifts up so they will be ready for sending or giving. And Emily will not be able to be too nosy and find out what I got for her.
wren08: (EE)
I'm spending the evening going through all my perfume imps and sniffies with six wishlists in hand. After I have done that (tonight and tomorrow), I'll look and see what I can decant for people and do a spot (large spot!) of decanting on Wednesday. Thursday I should be able to package everything up to mail out Friday. That's the plan anyway...

I also need to make up a non-perfume fairy package- possibly Thursday or Friday. These are going to be some awesome fairy packages, some of them!

Two things trouble me. One, I don't have but six of the nine wishlists I should and two- the best laid plans of wrens and all that.

Right now I'm being very very sleepy and I don't know why. I worked over in floral today- I didn't get everything done but I didn't expect to. Cheryl kindly left me more to do than I could possibly get done every day I'll be over there.

Ok, that last might need some explaining. I don't work floral very often except at holidays and I hate having to be at work but having nothing to do. I don't know the department well enough to find things to do if I run out. If Cheryl is there, I can ask for something else to do but when she is on vacation- I'm a bit at loose ends. The last couple of times she had me fill in for her while she was gone, I ran out of things to do. The last time, in sheer desperation, I tidied the entire department. It is possible that she was trying to avoid a repeat of that as well as keep me from being all upset. She did tell me that there was more on the list than I could possibly do and don't worry about not finishing it- don't even try.

So I didn't. I did what I had to do back in produce and then went up front and cleaned the cut case, pulled some roses that were looking ratty, watered everything in sight (this was one of the things that really did have to get done) and took down all the 4th of July decorations. And reworked the plants and arrangements that had not sold into daily things (Get Well, Birthday, Sympathy, General Summer).

So not too much- but I am very very sleepy and I don't know why. It doesn't help that I was sitting at the kitchen table to work on fairy packages and Anna-kitten stole my seat when I got up for more coffee. I'll make her get up and get back to work momentarily.

Awhile back, I contacted Barbara at Heaven and Earth Essentials about remaking a limited edition I had fallen in love with. Sadly, she couldn't recreate it since the recipe had been lost in a disaster. :(

However, she asked what my favorite notes were and created something with those notes and not having any that I can't wear and sent me a sample. It's luscious- deep and mysterious and made me think of far off and exotic places... so when she asked for suggestions for a name, I said "Namaste".

And today, on her newly refurbished website, is Namaste!!!

Go get some if you like incense-y blends- I've already ordered mine!

Day 2077

Apr. 24th, 2010 07:43 am
wren08: (construction)
There is not going to be an Unplugged post this weekend. I had us scheduled for the National Cornbread festival in South Pittsburgh but it's a 90% chance of rain today (and thunderstorms) and I still have a nasty nasty cold. Ok, I'm stubborn, not stupid!

Mom doesn't want us to go because she's heard on the news that there will be gang related violence there. Um, yeah, right. In South Pittsburgh. At the Cornbread festival. Gangs. Does not compute, sorry.

In other news, I got the paint for the living room (25% off coupon in the paper last week- wOOt!) so we will probably spend the day taking movies down and sorting them and maybe get some of the shelves down. I've decided that I'm going to paint the hall in a light colour on the top (my gallery) and then have a chair rail and the lower half painted in the same manner as the living room. I'd love to panel it... but that's not in my budget and probably never could be. Paneling would have to be cherry to match the floor- even cherry beadboard is very expensive!

80s is watching Leverage with me now- Fridays is our night for Breaking Bad and then Leverage- one episode each until he's caught up. This keeps us from having bad visits. Maybe in a couple of years we'll be back to being able to just hang out but for now, scheduled activities are a good thing.

I've decided that anyone lived in a pretty how town is not going to the county fair. I've made too many mistakes and it will just not stand up to judging. I've about decided that I shouldn't enter quilts in the fair- I'm too erratic. I have good ideas but my execution falls short of my vision by quite a lot. The alternative to this would be to use a machine. Um, no. Not at this time. I'm relaxing my thoughts about that but machine sewing is still pretty stressful for me and I'm not yet in that much of a hurry.

Fiber optic internet will be here soon. How soon, I don't know, but I am eager for it. Then I can watch TV episodes that I want to see that I do not get as they happen instead of waiting for them to hit DVD. This may not be as good a thing as it would seem, I've never been much of a TV watcher but zenkitty is changing that. There's my Bones, and Leverage, and Dexter, and Breaking Bad, and Castle. Whoops! That's five times as much as I've ever watched on a regular basis... I better learn to sew while I'm watching.

All week I have been wanting to sniff perfume and I still can't smell much. I hate this.

K- I have chores and projects pending- better go get busy!
wren08: (imp social)
I decided to catalogue the massive obsessive perfume collection instead of everything else I was supposed to do today. Okay, I have a LOT of perfume!

I posted something over on S&S about the Bpal price hike. I want to say more that is less PC so I'm going to say it here on my journal. You troll, I delete it. Simple. This is my journal and I'll say what I want to.

Day 2294

Sep. 5th, 2009 10:04 pm
wren08: (Autumn Witch)
Because I don't make as much money for shiny pretty things as I would like... and because I have a ridiculous amount of perfume... I have Ebay auctions running here for the next five days. I'm currently selling Beaver Moon 07 and backup bottles of Gypsy Queen and Pumpkin Queen (I bought a lot more of them than I'll ever wear now that I fell in love with Mme Moriarty)

I feel that should mention that one of my auctions is for a bottle of Grace from Moxie Beauty Company. It smells fantastic and probably works like a dream- but not on my skin. So I want to tell [info]wikkidraven that I just didn't feel right about keeping it when I couldn't use it and there is no way I'm going to let it go to waste. I appreciate the gift enormously anyway... and this way perhaps someone who has never heard of Moxie will get to try it! Please don't be mad at me...

Tonight I'm working on my pincushion and it should be finished tonight or tomorrow so I'll finally get that pic spam post up of all my 'projects' of late. (Of course now I'm putting together a glass snowdrop bookmark in my head- for 'protection' when I wander into Fairyland. Stardust fans will understand.)

Mail Call!

Aug. 6th, 2009 07:23 pm
wren08: (Dublin)
Ok, I have to share my mail call for today-

1st package from Heaven and Earth Essentials:

2nd package from Cathouse Quilts and Fabrics: a pretty wren fabric ("Wall Flowers" by Hoffman California International Fabrics) I bought on Ebay.

3rd package: A swap from [info]smb7681 on Sin and Salvation She sent me Grease Lightning
and Sonic Death Monkey from Lush!

4th package: Also a swap, this time from [info]elenorerigby on Sin and Salvation. She sent me decants of Punkie Night and Nocturne Alchemy's Thoth and lots of lovely tea. Since I haven't had a chance to try much from Nocturne Alchemy, I'm very happy about this.

5th package is a surprise: Moxie's own [info]wikkidraven sent me a huge box of Cadbury 'biscuits' and a package of 'biscuits' from Fox's. Om nom nom! Girl, you are going to make me fat(ter).

6th package is a surprise and a mystery. The actual package is from [info]1demondog but she says it was purchased for me by 'an anonymous friend' as a special birthday gift. (Hello, [info]chatriant!)

In the package is a beautiful glittery box with the Voodoo Punami symbol on the top and inside the box (as though that were not enough!) is a bottle...

a bloody 5ml cobalt bottle,

of Dublin. How you ladies prestidigitated that, I'll never know but I am grateful in the extreme. (I am curious though, how many virgins and to which deity? And where did you find that many of them?) There are also imps of Ignis and Ugh Massage Oils and one of Leipreachan. There's also a small spray bottle of Goblin of Yuletide Yet To Come Atmospheric Spray which is lovely and fabulous! I know what my house will be smelling like this Christmas! And a lovely note from [info]1demondog and a "I ♥ Bpal" button for freaking the mundanes. All wrapped up in beautiful silver tissue paper. I have been thoroughly spoiled! you both!

I love my post office... they found a bsg for me to carry everything in.

On a much sadder note, [info]tha1980s just called me to let me know John Hughes died. I was just quoting him this morning too, There was a screw that fell out of our kitchen table and Emily wanted to know why. "Screws fall out all the time, honey. It's an imperfect world."

RIP, man, you deserve it.

Day 2428

Apr. 25th, 2009 10:48 pm
wren08: (construction)

I got glittered today!!!!

First I got this fabulous package from Jenny_Gardener on the forum. I had asked her for fabric for my Bpal quilt and she sent the perfect fabric for her... and much much more! There's a book... Wren's War by Sherwood Smith which looks delicious Also all the info and stuff I need for Book Mooch which I'll look into because it seems like fun. And imps in a bitty case perfect for my back-pack- three imps I love and two I don't think I've tried. And sticker and a metric tonne of actual glitter!

As if that wasn't enough, I got something today from Moxie Beauty... totally delicious and unexpected. If you haven't tried their stuff, you should.

To top it all off, I had a lovely errand day. We picked up 80s, went to recycling and then went shopping for a new bathroom cabinet and some kitchen implements. I wanted a wok but we didn't find one to suit me but I did find the cabinet and got some water sealant for my shower rack (I have to finish that tonight).

I've got to get back to work. I repaired the dryer vent (again) and I've got most of the wallpaper off the wall. Going back to moving forward....

Heads up!

Bpal auctions running here. A couple of forum exclusives, limited editions, discontinued scents and one lonely GC. Four of them ending today...

Please take them away... they're all quite reasonably priced yet and frankly, I'm tired of listening to the tiny mopey voices whimpering 'You don't looooove me' tearfully in the quiet hours of the night.

wren08: (Autumn Witch)
I got Witched yesterday! I already knew (from her PM) that my fabulous witch is delicate_fangs. She's already spoiled me rotten but just see what she kept for the end!

Switch Witch reveal
Switch Witch reveal

An AUTOGRAPHED copy of a new book by one of my very favoritest authors, Lois McMaster Bujold. And not just autographed... autographed to ME personally! My fabulous witch also PMed me pics of her having my book signed here in case anyone is as much of a fangirl as I am about it all. Then there was a beautiful handwritten card explaining that the round pendant is a "planet" pendant... and that she had Lois pick it out for me. Since it looks nothing like Earth, I have determined that it's Barrayar.

The other pendant is my very very favorite rainbow moonstones. I can never have too many moonstones! And Lush in the form of a Karma bubble bar and my delicious CoalFace.

Today being Friday, I plan to come home after work and pour myself something decadent to drink and then snuggle down in a bubbly tub to devour my new book! Thank you, my darling delicate_fangs.... you are the bestest Witch in the whole wide world.

80s take on his new silk satin sheets:
80s (1:18 PM):
nom nom nom? NO!!! rub rub rub, stretch, move, slide, sprawl, smile

I had to get off work in the middle of the day to go get Emily from school. No, she isn't sick... she has lice. Apparently, she got them at school too so the rest of my day has been washing- her hair, sheets, blankets. I still have the rest of my bedding to do as well as all the rest of her clothes, my clothes and my hair. *groan, grumble* This is NOT the way I planned to spend my Friday night!

The recipe program is working out well enough so far. I have even figured out how to make it bend to print out a hard copy in the format I want for Emily's cookbook. I think this is going to be one to keep.

I got my package today with what should have been my St Patrick's Day tablecloth. It's the wrong one... this one has angels embroidered in gold on it... very pretty but I already have a Christmas tablecloth and I don't need more than one.

Recently, I found a recipe for Mushroom soup and I tried it out last night:

Quilter's Mushroom Soup with Fresh Rosemary
from The Quilter's Kitchen
Makes 16 cups

1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1 Spanish onion, halved and coarsely chopped or sliced
2½ to 3 pounds button mushrooms, wiped clean and coarsely
chopped, stems included
2 teaspoons dried rosemary
2 Idaho potatoes, unpeeled, diced (about 2 cups)
12 cups low-sodium
chicken broth
2 tablespoons dry sherry
1 cup light cream
Kosher salt and black pepper
Fresh rosemary leaves, for garnish

Place a large heavy-bottomed soup pot over medium heat and when it is hot, add the butter. When the butter has melted, add the onion, and cook until tender, about 10 minutes.

Add the mushrooms and rosemary and cook until the mushrooms release their juices, about 15 minutes. Then add the potatoes, chicken broth, and sherry, raise the heat to high and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and cook until the potatoes are tender, about 20 minutes.

Remove the solids and place in a blender or food processor fitted with a steel blade. Process, in batches, until completely smooth, gradually adding the remaining broth and cream. Season with salt and black pepper. Serve garnished with fresh rosemary.

I'm also planning a brie appetizer for Thanksgiving... stay tuned!

Happy Guy Fawkes/Bonfire night to all!

80s came out last night to test drive his car repair and watch election results with me. Curiously, we did not fight at all about the election even though he is a complete conservative and I lean more to the Libertarian middle. I am still pleasantly surprised that no harsh words were said... politics is a subject we arduously avoid for good reason.

Instead, we drank elderberry wine and worked on the second of my Sun, Moon and Stars hairsticks:

Sun, Moon and Stars
Sun, Moon and Stars

80s did virtually all of the stars for me.

Something I have been looking for and cannot find is the percentage of registered voters who turned out yesterday. Anybody know where to look? I'm thinking that it's higher than any election since the Kennedy election... possibly the highest since the turn of the last century. I still wish we could galvanize people in the same numbers (percentage-wise) that voted in the 1800s but I suppose that's a bit of a pipe dream.

In other news, I had a package from Greece today... a glitter bomb including some yummy smelling coffee and a sniffy of The Wild Hunt! *faints* *recovers* I'm thinking it probably was testable when it was mailed because there was oil all over the tape sealing the vial and I got it all over my fingertips when I opened it. *faints again*

It's a masculine cologne smell, spicy without being sweet, a bit musky- dirty-sexy, with an undertone of grass and dry leaves. It's also quite strong... I kept sniffing my fingertips all through Bones and taking notes. I wish the Lab would release it... I'd really love to have a bottle although a little will go a long long way!
wren08: (rune)

My printer is smoking, I've had to change two of the six cartridges and my paypal is curled up in a corner and whimpering. I think the poor thing needs a therapist now. However, I have everyone who has paid (except those who paid by e-check- you know who you are!) packed up, labeled and ready to go out tomorrow morning.

I promised that I would post my suppliers ASAP for everybody that would like to start ordering direct. I know it's not as handy, but at least you won't have to go without.

Wand caps- Sunburst Bottle Company
Here is the info you will need:
    Code: ROD1/4TV
Description: 1/4 oz Glass Tester Vial Rod 18/425
You have to call them or fax them your order and they don't take Paypal (but they do take the Paypal credit card that debits your Paypal account!) but they are very helpful and friendly and they do small orders so you don't have to order a ton.

Rollerball vials- Quosmedix
You will have to order 240 of each of three pieces. Tell them to use your social security number as your tax id number and that you will do the sales taxes for your state yourself. (Then research it and do so... chances are, you won't owe any since it's interstate and for personal use) Also, they will replace broken vials... if you catch it quick enough! They have a 10 day limit on replacement so as soon as you get them, screw the lids on and email them about any that are cracked. Screwing on the lids lets you find all the ones that are cracked around the middle and makes sure they sent you all the lids they should have.

Vials with lids- Like everyone else, I get them from Madina
You want the short glass vials and they sell as few as 100 at a time

Pipettes- Market Lab
You want Pipette number ML0780 if you want the same ones I've always stocked

Round labels- U-line

Sheets of imp labels I get at Sam's, along with bubble mailers and bubble wrap. You want Avery 5160 labels. Sam's is also my source for packing tape, scotch tape, a postal scale and printer paper. They accept the Paypal credit card.

Werther's Butter Candy I get from Sweet Services

I think that's all the supplies. For resources, I have found Paypal shipping to be invaluable. To ship something for which you have no payment (say, a swap package): Swap shipping via paypal

To calculate shipping for postage: I use USPS and tell them large envelope unless it's over 13 oz. International shipping can also be calculated using that website.

Did I leave anything out?

Edit: I did leave something out! Plumber's Tape: I've been getting it off of ebay because I could find deals on lots of it but it's available at the hardware store in the plumbing aisle. I get the ½ inch tape in 520 foot rolls.
