This is the first of a four day weekend for me- yay!

Today I'm going to try and get all the chores done (except the cooking- that has to be done every day). Shredder has to go to Wally's Friends tomorrow morning and get picked up tomorrow afternoon.

Around the rest of it, I am planning to title A Tree Grows in Brooklyn and finish casing, title and decorate Stardust. I think I have the alternative gilding worked out- it works on the white kid leather but not too well on the blue sheepskin. I expect I need to prep the sheepskin in some way that I didn't have to for the kid- and I have to figure out what that way is. Maybe glair? It's used in tanning as well as gilding so it seems the obvious choice.

I'm also going to work on my quilt :D

Just some thoughts on bookbinding- I never realized how many different materials go into binding a book nor how many of them are subject to being eaten by insects. There's leather, linen or cotton cloth, linen string and paper and the adhesives are (typically) hide glue, flour paste and egg whites. It's amazing that any old books have survived with that kind of appetizing buffet!
